It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Did you ever notice how people seem to be a little more cheerful around the holidays?  It could be because this year the staffing industry did exceptionally well and the unemployment rate dropped to 6.1%, according to the American Staffing Association. With this great news, the staffing industry has plenty of reason to celebrate — and with the holiday fast approaching, how about celebrating with your staff? In reflection of the past year, see if any of the below are reason enough…

  1. All work and no play…

Your team has worked so hard meeting deadlines and completing all year end tasks, what better way to show your appreciation than having a little get-together? It will be fun and relaxed, plus it gives you a chance to catch up with your group and their lives outside of work.

  1. Let’s cut loose!

Being able to enjoy each other’s company at the office is nice, but it can be even better when you aren’t talking about work. Spending time with coworkers is much more enjoyable without the day-to-day work pressures, and according to Benefits Pro, it is reported that 71% of people said a holiday get- together improved the company culture.

  1. Bonding time

That new guy in accounting – what’s his name? This is the perfect opportunity to get to know your coworkers. I am sure they will appreciate it and it gives them a better understanding of what the company culture is like. Again, Benefits Pro stated that 75% of people who attended their office gatherings gained a stronger office friendship.

  1. Spread around that holiday cheer!

As a group, organize and collect for a cause in your area – like Toys for Tots, collecting non-perishable items for the local food pantry, or even do some caroling within your community or office building. Sometimes it feels so good to give back….and a great way to spend time with your coworkers outside of the office.

If you don’t have the budget to throw an extravagant party, don’t worry about it.  It isn’t about the money – showing your appreciation means more to your employees than you think. With that in mind, Happy Holidays from all of us here at ABD!
