Phew! October was a rush for the ABD team. From October 27th to October 29th, we attended and sponsored ASA’s Staffing World 2015 convention and expo in Nashville, TN. It’s the big kahuna of staffing events and we walked away with a fair share of insight, quality leads, and good stories to tell.
The convention was held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, one of the largest non-casino hotels in the US. All six floors and 2,881 rooms were occupied for the expo, and there were still attendees who overflowed into the local Doubletree Hotel. Yeah, it was definitely packed.

Our booth was one of 156 exhibitors and we were busy all three days. Lots of long-time customers and new faces stopped by to hear about the latest modules and features that Ultra-Staff has to offer.
Many potential customers across vertical markets were pleased with what they saw. Our new Scheduling Module for Medical, Hospitality and other types of shift-based staffing was a huge hit and our Industrial Labor Module was popular too. But they weren’t the only users we were focused on.
To the larger audience, we demoed Ultra-Staff’s mobile accessibility and showed off ABD’s new Tableau big data reporting tool. Plus, we had the opportunity to impart best practices to owners and managers on our dashboards, drill-down, and slice and dice capability.
Learning about Our Customers
Yet the conversation wasn’t one-sided. Our team had a chance to chat up plenty of attendees at our booth and on the convention floor, picking up the kind of insight you can only gather face to face. What did customers mention most? That they wanted staffing services software where customer service was as important as delivering an expansive and high quality product suite.
That doesn’t seem like too much to ask, but it’s that lack of attentive care that’s led many of the people we spoke with to explore ABD as an alternative option to their current staffing software. It’s definitely true that a platform is only as good as the company backing it.
More than Just Shop Talk
As with every year, Staffing World 2015 was more than just business. There were plenty of great presentations from knowledgeable keynote speakers. We had a chance to catch up with long time customers and meet new people, unwinding over delicious food and cocktails at the Essential Staffcare grand finale party. For those country fans out there, Big & Rich even provided the live entertainment and played their hits.
Overall, Staffing World 2015 was a great event by all accounts and, if previous years are any indicator, will be one of the best trade show events we attend during the year. We always walk away with interested companies that become great long-term customers. So, make sure that next year, you attend Staffing World 2016 and stop by our booth.
